OXFORD – Arbor Day in the Village was cold and blustery, but residents still came out for the celebration and tree seedling give-away on May 1.

For this special occasion, filling in for the honorable Mayor Stark was Village Deputy Mayor, Dale Leach. Leach announced an Arbor Day Proclamation for the Village of Oxford. He said, “I urge all citizens to celebrate Arbor Day and to support efforts to protect our trees and woodlands, and further, I urge all citizens to plant trees to gladden the heart and promote the well-being of this and future generations.”

John Godfrey, of the Village Tree Board, introduced the other members of the Board: Gray Stevens, Jean Curtis, Jeanie Petersen, Sandy Dain, and honorary member, Marian Godfrey. Next he introduced guest speaker, DEC Senior Forester, Greg Owens.
