OXFORD - At Oxford Thursday, Oxford captured a nailbiter over Sidney winning 3-2.
Along with taking a forfeit from the Warriors at second doubles, perhaps the other key team point for Oxford came at third singles.
In a battle of eighth-graders, Oxford's Abby Denz outlasted Sidney's Emily Morris, 4-6, 6-3, 7-6 (7-3). "There were a lot of long rallies, and outstanding points won by both girls," said Oxford coach Lance Thorne of the third singles match.
Oxford first doubles team, Natalie and Madalyn Barrows, teamed for a straight sets win to secure the victory.

At second singles, underclassman Emma Brooks secured the Purple Tornado's lone team point. Brooke defeated CV's Celia Trumino, 9-6.
