CHENANGO COUNTY – Primary Election Day is next week on Tuesday, June 22, and most individuals throughout Chenango County will be able to vote at their regular polling sites.
According to Chenango County Republican Commissioner Mary Lou Monahan, polling sites will be open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Election Day, Tuesday, June 22. Those enrolled members of the Republican party are eligible to vote in this election.
According Monahan there are seven contested races for the Republican line throughout Chenango County, including:
County Clerk: Brian Wessels and Bill Smith.
Columbus Supervisor: Richard Fornito Sr and Diane Sclazo.
City of Norwich Ward 4 Alderman: William Loomis and Linda Kays-Biviano.
Town of Guilford, two council seats: Jordan Fleming, Thomas Ives, and Matthew Retz. Town of McDonough Clerk: Shirley Cook and Mallory Ann Franklin.
Town of Norwich Superintendent of Highways: Barry Christopherson and Drew Seiler.
Town of Smithville Superintendent of Highways: Harold Schultes and Vincent Witkowski.
“This is to determine who will be the republican candidate for the republican line on November 2, 2020 election,” said Monahan. “There are a multitude of ways to vote, including early voting, absentee voting, and voting in person.”
“Your vote will have a direct impact on who fills these positions all throughout Chenango County.”
Monahan said there have been some changes this election season, including an updated New Berlin polling site.
“New Berlin voters have a polling site change and will no longer vote at the UV School, but will vote instead at the new Chobani Community Room, 75 South Main Street in New Berlin,” said Monahan. “Early Voting is being conducted now at the Chenango County Board of Elections, 5 Court Street, Norwich, NY.”
“Chenango County Absentee Ballots can be dropped off during Early Voting as well.”
She said the county-wide office of County Clerk as well as local races will appear on the website by clicking on Sample Ballots or Offices Up For Election. She added that times and dates for Early Voting appear as well.
“Please note that Absentee Ballot application requests, must be postmarked, emailed or faxed by Tuesday, June 15, or can be requested in-person through Monday, June 21, 2021,” said Monahan.
