Chenango County reports growth in taxable property value

CHENANGO COUNTY - Cumulative tax values of Chenango County are on the rise, according to recent data from the County Department of Real Property Tax Services.


To date, the department reports a $22.1 million dollar difference over 2020, resulting in a 1.19 percent gain in county-wide tax values.


Steve Harris, Chenango County Director of Real Property Tax Services, said the largest contributor has been the Greek yogurt maker Chobani, whose recent decision to move warehousing from the parameters of its PILOT (payment in lieu of taxes) to a taxable parcel played a big role in the 11.49 percent spike in taxable values in the Town of Columbus.
