Norwich tops Oxford is S-E tournament final

SHERBURNE - Norwich held Oxford scoreless, and mounted a strong first-half of offense itself capturing the Sherburne-Earlville Tournament on Saturday, 3-0.

Sarah Davis scored twice for the Purple Tornado, and Emily Flynn sandwiched a goal between Davis’s two tallies.

Davis finished the opening goal unassisted from the right side just 5:34 into the game. Flynn capitalized on a direct kick in the game’s 20th minute, and Davis notched the Tornado’s third goal just three minutes after Flynn’s.

In Friday’s opening-round matchup, Oxford scored seven first-half goals on its way to a 9-2 victory over host Sherburne-Earlville.

Kaylin Tefft scored three goals in the game’s first 20 minutes to lift the Blackhawks early. Hailey Fleury and Taegan Manwarren also scored two goals apiece for the high-powered Oxford offense.

Ayla Shaw and Lexi Whitney were credited with Sherburne-Earlville’s goals.
