NORWICH – The Chenango County Historical Society (CCHS) invites community members to purchase a shopping pass for Boscov’s annual “Friends Helping Friends” event to be held on Oct. 20.

“Friends Helping Friends” shopping passes are good for 25 percent off nearly all purchases made on Oct. 20. (Certain exclusions may apply; complete details are printed on the shopping pass.) The program runs from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. at all 45 Boscov’s locations in Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Ohio and Pennsylvania. “Friends Helping Friends” shoppers are also eligible to win $100 Boscov’s Gift Cards at each store location.

Priced at $5 each, 100 percent of the proceeds go to support operations at the museum, located at 45 Rexford St.

“We are always grateful for this annual fundraiser, and this unique partnership with Boscov’s is a win-win for everyone,” said Jessica Moquin, CCHS executive director.

“Shopping pass holders get a head-start on holiday shopping during the ‘Friends Helping Friends’ event, and our organization receives essential financial support.”

“Friends Helping Friends” shopping passes to support CCHS are available by calling (607) 334-9227, ext. 2 or through the online Museum Shop by visiting https://chenangohistorical.org/product/friends-helping-friends-2021-shoppingpass/

The primary organization dedicated to actively and comprehensively preserving the history of Chenango County, CCHS celebrates local culture – unique traditions, noteworthy residents, and unusual stories.

First established in 1939, CCHS received an absolute charter in 1956. Ward School No. 2 was acquired in 1958 with renovations beginning immediately. Since reopening as a museum in 1962, Ward School No. 2 has been the home of the CCHS for more than five decades. The campus has expanded greatly since then, with the acquisition of the one-room Ross Schoolhouse (Preston), Loomis Barn (Tyner), a maple sugar house, and the Chenango Canal building, home to packet boat model the “Lillie.”
