ONEONTA- Purple Tornado senior Makaio Sutton claimed a fifth place finish out 26 runners at the Southern Tier Athletic Conference East Division boys’ varsity meet on Tuesday, October 12 in Oneonta. Consistently finishing as the number one runner for the Purple this season, Sutton ran the 5000m course in a time of 19:19.1 to lead the Norwich harriers.

Sutton’s younger brothers, NHS junior Zander Sutton and freshman Caden Sutton were not too far behind their older brother as Zander placed 13th and Caden 16th respectively. Zander finished in a time of 20:57 and Caden crossed the tape in 22:29.8. Tornado senior Zach Russell rounded out the Purple Tornado with a 24th place finish with a time of 25:17.7.

In the girls’ varsity race, Norwich freshmen Annie Boland and Kyra Brunick-Davis continued to progress and post great times during their first year on the varsity team. Boland placed third navigating the 5000 meter course in a time of 26:29.3 while teammate Brunick-Davis finished seventh in a time of 31:30.6.
