Greene field hockey reaches Class C final
SIDNEY - Nearly two weeks removed from a 2-1 regular season loss to Sidney, Greene returned the favor when it mattered most.
Locked in a 1-1 game, the Trojans' Nadia Brown scored unassisted 3:35 into the fourth quarter as her team held on for the 2-1 victory.
Greene moves on to Friday's Class C final at Sidney High School when it plays the winner of Windsor and Whitney Point at 7 p.m.
"It was a hard-fought game by both teams," said Greene first-year head coach Heather Rapp. "The coaching staff is extremely proud of the passing, intensity, and teamwork that our team played with tonight. We played with grit, and are looking forward to playing in the sectional final on Friday."
Greene (11-6) never trailed in this contest taking a 1-0 lead with 1:52 left in the first quarter.
Emma Rice picked up the first goal with Olivia Kennedy notching the assist.
The score remained intact until Sidney's Makayla Bales tied the game scoring unassisted with three minutes left in the third quarter.
