Oxford turns back Harpursville

OXFORD - Oxford was clutch from the free throw line over the game's final four minutes to turn away a pesky Harpursville club on Wednesday night.
The Hornets trailed Oxford (11-5) by nine points entering the fourth, but closed to 45-41 after an Abigail Lyon bucket midway through the final stanza.
Oxford responded from the line making 9-of-10 attempts down the stretch with leading scorer Madalyn Barrows a perfect 8-for-8 from the charity stripe.
"Harpursville kept coming at us. It was a closer game than the score would indicate," said Oxford coach Chris Palmer "All nine players played well in their role tonight giving us quality minutes."
Barrows finished with a game-high 27 points to go with eight rebounds and five steals.
Ella Kelsey added 13 points and a team-best five assists.

BAINBRIDGE - Sylvia Liddle was the lone Delhi player to score over five points finishing with 16, the Bulldogs received scoring contributions from 10 players in Wednesday's rout of the Bobcats.
Liddle scored 12 of her points in the opening half lifting her club to a 33-11 halftime advantage.
Celeste Baldwin had 10 points for B-G (5-8).

NORWICH - In an intra-Chenango County dual meet, Norwich took command of Wednesday's matchup with the Marauders winning five straight matches by pinfall or forfeit en route to the victory.
S-E led 12-0 early getting a pin at 132 points from Cameron Mason, and a forfeit from Nick Miller (138).
Norwich turned the tide at 145 pounds when Nate Murphy won by pinfall. Brady Smith (152) followed with a pin for NHS before Ashton Jenkins (160), Caden Moore (172), and Braden Reid (189) won by forfeit.
S-E controlled the two heaviest weights as Cody Clarkson (215) and Landon Andrade (285) each won by pin.
Norwich closed out the meet with a pin when Evan Meek pinned Selina Moore in 4:22.

Oxford-Greene's lone non-forfeit victory came at 189 pounds when Hunter Page garnered a 6-0 decision over UUV's Nate Ackerly, 6-0.

Unadilla Valley sweeps Afton-Harpursville
NEW BERLIN - Unadilla Valley's unbeaten girls completed one of its best performances of the season on Tuesday rolling to a 4-0 victory over undermanned Afton.
The Storm posted 2,632 pins over three games, and five different players finished with honor scores.
Phalen Hill led UV with a 245 game and 563 series, while Pyper Kneale fashioned a 561 trio of games.
On the boys' side, the Storm boys also claimed a 4-0 shutout over the Crimson Knights.
Nate Rumovicz's 620 series led UV, and Blake Wright also eclipsed the 600 mark totaling a 602.
