Sheriff's Office warns of circulating scam

CHEANANGO COUNTY — The Chenango County Sheriff’s Office reported two days ago that they have been alerted to a text message scam circulating in the area.

According to a post from the Chenango Sheriff Facebook page, "An unknown number is sending out text messages claiming to be selling shirts from the Chenango County Sheriffs Office. We are not selling any apparel."

They advise residents that receive any messages claiming to be selling items from the Chenango County Sheriff's Office to not click or open any links that may be attached.
