SHERBURNE — The Friends of Rogers celebrated Earth Day on Friday, April 22 with their Electric Vehicle (EV) Show and Earth Fair event, held at the Rogers Environmental Education Center in Sherburne. Attendees of all ages had the chance to check out EVs, learn about sustainable living and eco-friendly energy, take home plants and prizes, and much more.

The event was part of Drive Electric Earth Day (DEED), a national campaign presented by Plug In America, the Electric Vehicle Association, the Sierra Club, and EVHybridNoire that aims to spread information about electric vehicles.

Around a dozen EVs were located in the Rogers Visitor's Center parking lot, where attendees could take a look, take a ride, or ask questions. Around the corner was a starter plant giveaway, and Friends of Rogers Executive Director Simon Solomon manning the grill and serving up delicious burgers and hot dogs.

Inside the Visitor's Center were several booths relating to environmental education and sustainability, including the Mid York Mycological Society, the Chenango Bird Club, Livingston Energy, the Bullthistle Hiking Club, Chenango County Department of Planning and Development, and many more.

SUNY Morrisville Professor Eric Diefenbacher brought along a crested gecko and milk snake that attendees could ask questions about and touch, along with informational diagrams about snake bite safety.

Several prizes were raffled off, with many visitors walking away with items like a mini drone, cell phone microscope, handmade birdhouse, craft kits, and more.

Be sure to keep an eye on the Friends of Rogers Environmental Education Center Facebook page for more information on their upcoming events and activities.
