Softball: Oxford beats Walton on Senior Night

OXFORD– The Oxford Blackhawks softball team defeated Walton 16-1 on senior night.

The Blackhawks honored lone senior pitcher Tricia Bohannon before the game.

Bohannon took the mound for Oxford. She earned the win in her three inning start, striking out five batters. She also went 2-for-4 at the plate and scored two runs.

Behind Bohannon, Kyla Kelsey went 3-for-3 with an RBI and scored a team-high three runs on the day.

Ava Benjamin and Taegan Manwarren both went 2-for-4 with an RBI a piece and each scored two runs.

Naiomi Smith got on base with three walks and scored two runs. Smith also took over for Bohannon in the fourth, allowing Walton to score the one run in the fifth inning and struck out five batters.

Oxford will be back in action on the road against Harpursville this afternoon (Friday) for a 4:30 p.m. start.
