OXFORD — The Oxford Farmers’ Market will celebrate its official opening of the 2022 summer season this Saturday, May 28 from 9 a.m. to noon in Lafayette Park.

Now more than ever before, locally grown and produced food and home products are coming to feel essential. Not only are local products fresher and more nutritious, but every purchase of a local product strengthens our local economy, connects us to our neighbors, and makes us less reliant on external fluctuations. The Market’s longtime motto, “fresh from your neighbors," says it all. You can’t buy more direct than from right next door. No shipping involved.

This summer season, the Market will have dozens of vendors weekly, selling high-quality products including local plant starts for the garden; fresh picked seasonal produce; dairy products and regional cheeses; locally raised and processed beef, pork, lamb, goat, and chicken; artisanal breads and baked goods; delicious hard cider from Awestruck Ciders; locally grown and milled grains and flours; syrup and honey harvested right here in Chenango County; hand-made soaps, lotions, lip balms and tinctures; exquisitely hand-crafted items for the kitchen and home, and artisan fiber products from local producers.

In addition, local musicians will be back at the Market on a weekly basis with Composer George Anderson opening the 2022 performance season. Anderson is known for his moodily bluesy instrumentals and slide technique. He plays a variety of acoustic, electric-acoustic, solid body-electric and Dobro guitars, as well as keyboards. All events at the Market are free and open to the public.
