Greene Softball wins Class C championship

BINGHAMTON – On Saturday, The Greene Trojans softball team played Elmira Notre Dame for the Section IV Class C championship held at the BAGSAI softball complex. Greene shutout the Crusaders 4-0 to earn its first sectional title since 2012.
Olivia Kennedy had a stellar day on the mound and at the plate. She pitched a complete no-hitter, where the only base runner drew a walk, and struck out 14 batters. She also went 2-for-3 with a lead-off triple in the first inning and scored on an RBI from catcher McKenzie Scott.
Payton Yahner, coming off home runs against Spencer-Van Etten and Edison, also went 2-for-3 with an RBI double in the first and a bunt single in the fifth inning. Natalie Scofield contributed with a single in her two at-bats.
Greene will play for a regional title this Saturday afternoon at Carrier Park in Syracuse. Good luck Trojans.
