Binghamton woman dies after motorcycle crash in Afton
AFTON – The New York State Police reported that on Sunday, August 14, a Binghamton woman died following a head-on motorcycle crash in Afton.
The accident occurred at approximately 5:44 p.m.
The operator of the motorcyclist was identified as Julie A. Lawton, age 53. She was airlifted to Wilson Hospital but later died of her injuries
State police from Sidney were dispatched by Chenango County 911 to the two-vehicle crash on State Route 7 in the Town of Afton.
When troopers arrived, they learned that a motorcyclist was traveling west on State Route 7 when she crossed over the double yellow line and struck the driver’s side of a Jeep Grand Cherokee which was traveling in the opposite direction.
