Earlville Conservation Club set to host first youth hunting contest
EARLVILLE – The Earlville Conservation Club is excited to announce its first Youth Deer Contest.
It will be held over the Columbus Day weekend; October 8, 9 and 10.
We are looking for youth hunters that are of legal age at the time of the contest; 12 - 15 years old. Youth must have completed a course in Hunter Education and possess a valid NY state hunting license. The youth must be accompanied on the hunt by a parent, legal guardian, or a person who is 21 years or older.
The deer must be harvested in New York during the ECC fall youth hunt, October 8th, 9th & 10th, and must be tagged prior to entry. All doe must be field dressed prior to weighing. The youth hunter that harvested the deer must be present at the time of scoring/weigh in and only one entry per youth hunter will be allowed.
Youth will complete their entry form at the home of Andy Migonis: 2427 Smith Road, Hamilton, NY 13346. Phone: 1[315] 527-0113. The weigh in/ scoring days & times are Saturday, October 8th; 12 - 2 PM, and 5-7 PM. Same weigh-in/ scoring times on Sunday, October 9, and Monday, October 10th.
All youth hunters who enter a deer in the contest will receive a gift. The club will award a one year's Earlville Conservation Club membership and a prize for the biggest buck based on antler score. The winning buck will also be automatically entered in the Big Buck Contest held in January.
Another youth will be awarded a one year's Earlville Conservation Club membership and a prize for the biggest doe based on weight.
The remaining entries will be eligible for a random draw for the "Lucky Deer" prize.
Contest winners will be contacted by phone to arrange prize pick up
