OXFORD — There is nothing so comforting as sitting down to a meal with friends and family and knowing that the food spread out before you came from the farmers and bakers right here in our area.
The beef roast or chicken from a local farm; the eggs from your neighbors who care lovingly for their chickens; the pie you didn’t want to make yourself, from a local baker and made with local apples; the syrup or honey that tops your pancakes from local trees and bees; the potholders you use to serve it all made by a local artisan; the wreath on your front door made by local hands. This is the magic brought to us by our area farmers’ markets.
Stop by the Oxford Winter Farmers’ Market (the last indoor Market before the end of the year) this Saturday for all your holiday needs, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall of the United Church of Oxford, located at 16 Fort Hill Park — enter on Merchant Street, across from the Middle School parking lot, where there is plenty of parking.
You’ll find all kinds of local meats, dairy, eggs, baked goods, maple syrup and honey, and beautiful handmade gifts, including exquisite willow weavings from Bonnie Gale of New Berlin.
