BOYS BASKETBALL: Chenango Valley spoils Norwich’s home opener

NORWICH - On Saturday afternoon, the Norwich Purple Tornado boys basketball team hosted Chenango Valley for the first home game of the 2022 season. The Warriors dominated on both sides of the court to win 61-47.
Steven Dowdall led the Tornado with 20 points with four three-pointers as Wyatt Thornton and Jerell Stokes both finished with nine points. Thornton’s nine points came from three three-point shots.
While both sides competed strongly, the Purple Tornado could not shut down CV’s Jordan Benowski as he had 20 points with six three’s. He also shared the wealth with teammates Nate Edwards and Chase Hanyon who helped put the game away in the fourth quarter with Norwich threatening. Norwich was down by 10 points with a minute left to play but got into some late foul trouble.
After two challenging games under their belt, Norwich will aggressively prepare for their next game, which will be against Seton Catholic on Wednesday at 7:15 p.m.
