GIRLS BASKETBALL: UV defeats Harpursville
HARPURSVILLE – After competing in the Sherburne-Earlville tip-off tournament, the Unadilla Valley Storm girls basketball team got back into MAC league action against Harpursville. The Storm won 52-35 to capture their first MAC win and their third win overall.
The Storm dominated in the first half and took a 27-11 lead at halftime before finishing with a strong second half. Harpursville laid down 24 points in the final 16 minutes, but UV’s 16 points in the third held a demanding lead.
UV continues to be led by the remarkable Kadence York and Jaiden Schrag, but the team rounded out the scoring late in the game. York had a team-high of 19 points, which 12 points were scored in the first two quarters. Schrag scored 11 points with eight coming strong in the first quarter before sharing the wealth with York and other teammates.
Harpursville’s Madison Fleming had nine points while teammate Sadielyn Combs finished with six in the loss.
UV (3-3) will have a week’s rest before playing Bainbridge-Guilford on Wednesday, December 21 at 7 p.m.
