BOYS BASKETBALL: Norwich falls to Sus Valley
CONKLIN – Coming off winning the Unadilla Valley Holiday Tournament, the Norwich Purple Tornado boys basketball team resumed STAC league play against Sus Valley. Sus Valley defeated Norwich 65-53.
Both teams threw down three’s in the contest where Sus Valley had the upper-hand with eight and Norwich with six. Norwich found success in the tournament with knocking down three’s, but returned to STAC play where three-point shots are common vs opponents.
Norwich struck luck in the second quarter as they posted 22 points before halftime to take a 30-29 lead. But, the Sabers answered back with 22 points of their own in the third quarter and held Norwich from doing any other damage.
Sus Valley’s Mason Karns led all scorers with 29 points and hit three three-point shots, while Jerell Stokes and Steven Dowdall helped the Norwich offense. Stokes had 15 points with three three’s while Dowdall knocked down one three with 14 points. Both Stokes and Dowdall have been having a phenomenal season for Norwich, making them favorites in every matchup.
Norwich looks to bounce back against Binghamton on Friday at 7:15 p.m. Harry Graves will be calling the game via the Mixlr app under Chenango Sports.
