GIRLS BASKETBALL: Greene pulls out win vs Unatego, stays undefeated
GREENE – On Friday, the Greene Lady Trojans hosted Unatego, where they squeezed out a nail-biting 38-35 win. Even though this win didn’t come easy, the Trojans are still working through an undefeated campaign with only tougher matches to come.
While their offense could not pull away with a much larger victory, the key to the win was the Trojans defense. Head Coach Dave Gorton was in awe when his team held “an outstanding team” like Unatego to just five field goals over the final three quarters. Something he calls “a great team commitment to defense.” He applauds Claire Flanagan and Cali Knapp who led with a very strong defensive effort while Cassie Butler and Abby Yahner both had eight rebounds.
Payton Yahner lead all scorers with 17 points, including 12 scored in the first half. Abby Yahner finished behind her with 10.
Greene (9-0) will host a tough Delhi team, who defeated Oxford in the previous week, on Thursday at 7 p.m.

GR 15 7 9 7—38
UN 16 6 5 8–35
