SOFTBALL: OV Lady Vikings hold McGraw to earn first win of season

OTSELIC – In just their second game of the season, the Otselic Valley Vikings softball team hosted McGraw, where they won 15-13 on a wet Tuesday afternoon. Due to great teamwork on defense and 12 stolen bases, the Vikings were able to secure their first victory of the season, even with McGraw threatening in the latter part of the game.
OV took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning before McGraw answered back with two of their own. It was a back-and-forth affair until the Vikings tacked on six runs in the fourth inning and held McGraw from making a complete comeback.
Cassidy Will led the Vikings on the mound as well as the plate. She went 3-for-5 with a double and a triple and scored three runs. Tori Foster and Paige Will also provided multiple hits for the offense. Paige Will scored a team-high of four runs and had three RBIs in the win. McKenzie Reandeau drove in two runs and walked twice in her plate appearances.
Reandeau and Abby White played tremendous defense, where they both made great catches in the outfield to limit McGraw’s offensive efforts.
Cassidy Will pitched the complete game, where she only walked two batters while striking out 13.
OV (1-1) travels to Brookfield on Thursday for a game beginning at 4:30 p.m.
