NORWICH — The Mid-York Concert Band is preparing for its annual Spring Concert. Maestro Doug Ernst will appear again as our director.

This 40-piece band is made up of professionals, teachers and dedicated amateurs from Chenango and surrounding counties. You are sure to be pleased with their fine sound.

Selections will include P"avane" by Gabriel Faure, a musical description of paintings by Claude Monet. Leonard Bernstein is well represented by his “Danzon” and the familiar “West Side Story” choices. On a lighter side will be “Alexander’s Ragtime Band” and the “Italian Polka” by Sergei Rachmaninov. Although from far different eras, both are big toe tappers.

The concert will be at 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 21 in the Norwich High School auditorium. Since it is close to Memorial Day, there will be patriotic numbers. Listen for “The Stars and Stripes Forever," the “Star Spangled Banner,” and a musical tribute to our Armed Forces. Please join us and be generous at the free-will offering.

This ensemble is made possible with public funds from the Statewide Community Regrants Program, a regrant program of the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Governor and the New York State Legislature and administered by The Earlville Opera House.
