NEW BERLIN — Three Unadilla Valley Girl Scout Cadets from Troop 30481 will earn the Silver Award, which is the highest achievement award a Cadet Girl Scout can earn.

New Berlin resident and Girl Scout 30481 troop leader Amy Huggins said, “Cadet Girl Scouts, Alexus Reny, Lily Pate, and Eva Branagan are completing their Silver Achievement Award. Alexus is in her ninth year as a member of the troop, Lily is in her eighth year, and Eva is in her seventh.

Cadet Alexus Reny said,”To me, completing my Silver Award means I am a growing, helpful part of the community and have the ability to achieve my goals in the present and the future.”

Evva Branagan said she did this project to help the pets and people in the community so they can get food they need from the pet pantry.

“The Silver Award shows me that helping the community is good,” she said.

Huggins said the girls thought about what project they could do to achieve their award. The girls considered that since they live in such a small town with so many animals, along with the fact of rising inflation, they would do something to help the pets and pet owners in and around the local area.
