NORWICH – Commerce Chenango held their annual Membership Appreciation Event this week at Hidden Springs Brewery.

The event was attended by more than 175 members of the Chenango County business community.

“The purpose of this event is to celebrate all the things that our members do to make Chenango County such a great place to live and work,” said Commerce Chenango President and CEO Sal Testani.

Dickey’s BBQ catered the event, Gilligan’s Ice Cream was served for dessert and the popular Beadle Brothers provided the entertainment.

“We wanted this to a fun event where our members could relax and enjoy themselves. Without our members Commerce Chenango would not be able to do the work we do in our community and we wanted to thank them,” Testani said.

Commerce Chenango recognized long time community members and business owners Chris and Missy Hayes, owners of Copies Plus in Norwich for their contributions to the Chamber and their support for local businesses.

The event was sponsored by Preferred Mutual Insurance, Exellus BlueCross/BlueShield and NBT Insurance.

NBT Director of Retail Banking Tom Sutton said, “It is great to see so many people here tonight. NBT recognizes the importance of a healthy business community and we appreciate the work that Sal and his team at Commerce Chenango have done to bring us all together. The work that the Chamber does is important to all of us who live and work in Chenango County.”

Commerce Chenango will present the 2023 Manufacturer of the Year award on October 26, at the Northeast Classic Car Museum in Norwich.

The event was intended to celebrate all of the manufactures in Chenango County.

Testani added, “We are very pleased to honor Chobani as our 2023 Manufacturer of the Year and we have a special event planned for that evening. I hope we get as good a turnout as we had tonight.”

Manufacturer Appreciation Week runs from October 6 through October 13 this year.

Last year Commerce Chenango hosted a lunch with the estimated 35 manufacturers in Chenango County with their first ever luncheon.

The 2022 year's Manufacturer of the Year award was Gladding Braided Products, a wire and fiber manufacturer based in South Otselic.

In business since 1816, Gladding specializes in manufacturing braided materials that are used in and by various industries, including the United States military. From paracord to metal cables, Gladding’s products have been used in a variety of ways, making their customer base one of the reasons they continue to thrive.

Past winners also include Chenango Valley Technologies in 2021, Golden Artist Colors in 2020, and T-Squared Custom Millwork in 2019.

Organized in 1959, Commerce Chenango is a not-for-profit, community-based organization dedicated to enhancing the economic growth of Chenango County and the surrounding area. Visit CommerceChenango.com for more information on Commerce Chenango services and programs.
