Downtown Business Relief Program deadline is October 31
NORWICH — If your local business has been seriously impacted by downtown construction there is still a little time left to get your application in for the Downtown Business Relief Program (DBRP).
The deadline for all applications to be received is 5 p.m. on October 31.
Community Development Director Erik Scrivener said the DBRP was created to provide gap funding to businesses in the City of Norwich that had been affected by disruptions from the water main construction, NYSEG, and other improvements restricting access to the businesses.
“This funding deadline is October 31,” said Scrivener.
Scrivener explained applicants are eligible for a maximum award amount of up to $10,000 and will be reviewed by the DBRP Review Committee to determine eligibility for funding. Applicants must show the need for the funding and how the ongoing construction had an effect on their business. Supporting documentation may include cash flow statements, monthly costs, tax returns, profit and loss statements and possibly other financial statements.
“We’ve tried to make the applications as accessible as possible,” he added. “Applications are available for pickup at City Hall at One City Plaza on Main Street. Once an application is complete it must be returned to City Hall will all required documentation. Completed applications will be reviewed in the order they are received.”
The Downtown Business Relief Program (DBRP) is supported by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Small Cities and Urban Development Action Grant (UDAG) program income.
