Girls Soccer: Oxford rolls on with a overtime win over Spencer-Van Etten

OXFORD – The Oxford Blackhawks girls soccer team continues to battle through late in the season as they picked up a third straight win. Oxford defeated non-league opponent Spencer-Van Etten on Saturday 1-0 in two overtime periods.

With both teams competitive through two halves without a score, the Blackhawks made sure to make it count in overtime. Colette Kappauf received a pass from Taegan Manwarren to score the game-winner. Manwarren has been outstanding with a total of five assists through the last three games. She now has a total of nine with a few regular season games remaining.

Goalkeeper Raya Warner made 17 saves in the shutout victory.

Oxford is one game away from being even on the season as they stand at 6-7 and will host Cincinnatus on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.

Boys Soccer:

Greene defeats non-league opponent Cincinnatus 2-0. Kloden Rapp and Shane Rideout both scored for the Trojans while Jackson Roth made three saves in net.

Sherburne-Earlville falls to Little Falls 6-2. No stats reported by press time.

Otselic Valley ties with Stockbridge Valley/Morrisville-Eaton 1-1. Caleb Loomis scored the tying goal in a game that was ended early due to darkness.

Girls Soccer:

Norwich falls to Chenango Valley 8-0.

Otselic Valley defeats Sherburne-Earlville 5-0. Rachel Loomis led the Vikings with two goals as Makayla Mills, Susannah Lyon, Skylar Graham each scored one. Kimmy Miron-Blanco and Kali Waltz provided the assists.
