United Way and Zappone Subaru of Norwich help local residents in need

NORWICH – The Chenango United Way recently welcomed the contributions of Zappone Subaru of Norwich, in hopes of aiding local families in need of cold weather clothing.

“In Chenango County we have 41% of families struggling to make ends meet every day. That number is called ALICE, asset limited income constrained employed. The number is going higher every day, this is a big deal for them,” said United Way’s Executive Director Elizabeth Monaco

New owner of Zapping Subaru Matt Zappone, along with General Manager Jack Hampton and other employees donated cases of socks to the United Way in Norwich.

“We are a part of the community that takes care of us, so we wanted to make sure we give back to the community,” said Zappone.

“Previously we had chosen the Chenango United Way as our partner for the “Subaru Love's Promise initiative,” said Hampton.

United Way Marketing and Communication Manager Kylie Anderson said the the group welcome the gift and said it was an essential of what people really needed. She said the organization would give them to local struggling families.
