GREENE – For the first time in the village’s history, an independent movie company named Frosted Bridge Films has announced that they would like to partner with the area, and create a film with a Hollywood and local actor filled cast.
The film’s title will be Alyssa Mae – Living on The Edge, and is scheduled to be an approximately month long shoot this winter that will take place in locations including the Village of Greene, New York City, and California.
According to representatives from Frosted Bridge Film, Greene captured the company’s attention thanks to its scenic downtown area, and stunning school district. They said the film centers around a young woman struggling with the tragic loss of her parents, and after meeting with Greene Central School District Interim Superintendent David Daniels, along with Village of Greene Mayor Phillip Brown, they was convinced that it should be filmed in Greene.
“We are so excited to partner with the Village of Greene and the Greene Central School District,” said Frosted Bridge Film Producer and Writer Joanne Tamburro. “Our films have been featured on Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon in the past.”
“We want this to be an opportunity for area actors as well, and we will be hiring local people for both minor and major roles.”
Tamburro said the casting call is open for a lead actor to fill the role of the main character, Alyssa Mae, which is scheduled to close by October 31. She added that a local actor has already been signed on to the film, and anyone interested in trying out can visit the movie’s Facebook page, “Alyssa Mae – Living on The Edge.”
“This is a coming-of-age story about a vivacious yet troubled small-town teenage girl who grapples with guilty after inadvertently causing a devastating accident that claimed her parents’ lives and scarred her sister,” said Tamburro. “Our plan is to partner with Greene on the scenes that take place in the beginning of the film, and as Alyssa’s life goes downhill we would move to some of our other locations.”
“We want this to be an opportunity for local actors to be part of a professionally led movie, and we can’t wait to help get Greene on the map!”
2023 Greene High School Graduate and Greene EMS Squad member Elizabeth Williamson has been named as one of the first local actors that will be featured in this film.
Williamson said she was excited to be featured in a movie, and hopes to encourage others to make the most of this opportunity.
“I first got into acting in middle school when everyone else was starting to join sports, and I realized that I was not athletic in the slightest,” said Williamson. “I decided to try something else – which was music.”
“I got my first leading role as Jemima in 8th grade in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, I then became Anna in Frozen Jr. in my Freshman Year, and Belle in Beauty and the Beast in my Senior Year.”
Williamson said that people shouldn’t be afraid of going for a role in the movie even if they haven’t professionally acted before.
“Just go for it,” she said. “What’s the worst that’s going to happen - they say no, at least you tried..!”
When asked about the film, Greene Central School District Superintendent Daniels said the opportunity has been discussed with the board, and it is a great chance to highlight the area and get seniors interested in acting into a real role.
“We wanted to be as upfront as possible with this opportunity, and we’re excited that we have a chance to do this for our community,” he said. “We don’t want this to be a disruption to the school day, so anything involving the school would be after hours as well.”
