Boys' Basketball: S-E falls to Sidney to start 2023 season
SIDNEY – There’s no doubt that it is always a tough competition between Sidney and Sherburne-Earlville, even in non-league play. This Section III, Section IV crossover continues to be one to watch with the two teams battling it out. Sidney won the first of two games on their home court in a high scoring 79-49 game to start the 2023 season. These two teams will meet again in Sherburne for the final regular season game in February.
The newly revamped Sidney Sabers posted 22 points in the first quarter and never settled, adding on 20 plus in the second half, leaving S-E unable to catch up from that point on.
Only losing a few key seniors, the Marauders brought back its talented lineup with seniors Darren Miles, Nick Hull, and Aaron Key leading the charge. Miles led S-E with 15 points, including hitting three three’s. Nick Hull knocked down one three in his 13 point night while Key finished with five points in the loss.
After that intense game, S-E hosts their annual boys’ basketball tournament this weekend, where they welcome local Unadilla Valley, Cazenovia, and Vernon-Verona Sherill (VVS). S-E will face UV in the first round of the tournament on Friday at 7:30 p.m.
