NEW BERLIN – Coming off a close game against Bainbridge-Guilford, the Unadilla Valley Storm boys' basketball team hosted Unatego/Franklin on Saturday evening. UV fell 58-47 and drop to 1-10 on the season.
It's been a challenging season, but the Storm continues to show toughness on the court up until the final buzzer.
UV had a consistent first half of play to only be down 25-23 at halftime. However, Unatego/Franklin powered through in the second half, leaving UV struggling to catch up after back-and-forth efforts to start the game. The Storm also got into foul troubles, where the Spartans faired well at the foul line, making nine-of-12 free-throws.
UV kept good pace in the final eight minutes with Denzel Peter driving the offense with eight of the team's 15 points. Peter led the Storm with 13 points overall and went three-for-seven at the foul line. Dalton Allen also had room to move, despite pressure from the Unatego defense, to finish with nine points. Haywood Edwards helped steal the ball to led defensive efforts while also finishing with eight points in the loss.
UV faces another tough opponent as they take on the defending MAC champions Delhi on Thursday at 7:15 p.m.
