Bowling: UV / Norwich boys win Class ‘B’ and Greene/Oxford girls win Class 'C'

VESTAL – The Section IV bowling tournament was held over the weekend at Midway lanes in Vestal. The boys bowled on Friday while the girls went on Saturday.
The Greene/Oxford girls won the Class 'C' Title as UV/Norwich took third for Class 'B'. Bainbridge-Guilford and Afton/Harpursville represented class 'D', where B-G took fifth and Afton/Harpursville came in sixth place. The UV/Norwich boys excelled in Class ‘B’ while B-G finished second in class ‘D’.
Brianna Fowlston led the Greene/Oxford girls to their sectionals victory as she rolled a 643 series with games of 205,235, and 203. Her high series ranked first in Class C and third in Section IV. Teammate Harlee Montgomery followed with a 570 series, including her highest of a 218 in the first game. Lily Baxter finished with a 545 series.
After winning the MAC league title, UV/Norwich had a rather difficult time against the Class B powerhouses. The Storm took third with 2631 points with Maine-Endwell winning the title with an overall top score of 2903.
Phalen Hill bowled a team-high 575 series with a 205 in her first game and wrapped up with a 214 in the final game. Brynn Grant followed with a 543 series with her highest of a 197 in her third game as Andie Mucha capped off as the third leader with a 535 series.
Bainbridge-Guilford remained committed with their four dedicated ladies in the Class D tournament. Railey O'dell led the Bobcats with a 433 series, including a high game of a 180. Tabitha Doyle finished behind her with a 389 series as Kassidy Middleton rolled a 372 series, and Sophie Gold rounded out the scoring with a 359 series.
Afton/Harpursville was led by three hard-working ladies with Gracie Bomboy paving the way with a 440 series. Jaelin Brown had a 401 series as Morgan Crosby rolled a 363 series.
The only boys’ scores reported were of UV/Norwich. Dawson Robinson led the high series for all classes with a 783. Jacob Prentice followed with a 691 as Nate Rumovicz rolled a 604. Tyler Bates had a 537 as Zayne Dibbell rounded out the team with a 540 series. UV/Norwich bowled an overall total of a 3155, which puts them in first place, heading to the state qualifiers. The state qualifiers will be on February 23 in Waverly.
