Softball: B-G wins its third straight game; defeats Charlotte Valley
BAINBRIDGE – After taking down locals Oxford and Greene, the Bainbridge-Guilford Bobcats softball team played non-league opponent Charlotte Valley. B-G’s bats were fiery yet again, racking up 12 hits in the 15-5 win over the Wildcats to improve to 3-0 to start the season.
B-G fired away in the first two innings to take a 5-0 lead. Jayslin Henderson reached on an error while Alessandra Cafasso walked. Henderson scored as Danica Park drilled a double to center field. Gabby Cuozzo followed with her own RBI double to right field to bring in both Cafasso and Park.
With the bases-loaded in the second inning, Cafassso walked to bring home a run before Brenna George tagged up on a pop out. Charlotte Valley got one back in the top of the third before the Bobcats had some more fun in the fourth and fifth innings.
B-G scored seven runs in the fourth inning and added three more in the fifth. George walked to lead-off the inning, stole second base, and was at third on a wild pitch before scoring on Cafasso's one-out single. Cuozzo drove in two runs on another double and she finished with a team-high five RBIs on the day. Kaylin Furgason hit a two-out double to drive in Cuozzo. Tori Suda walked before Emma Kinter drove in two runs with a double and George brought home Kinter on a RBI single.
The Wildcats answered back with two runs in the fifth and had two more in the seventh, but B-G was too strong and even added three final runs in the bottom of the fifth. Cuozzo drove in another run with a single to center while Breanna Casey and Madisyn Peck followed with back-to-back singles. Casey stole home to plate the final run to cap off a great offensive day for the Bobcats.
