Baseball: B-G downs Greene
BAINBRIDGE – The Bainbridge-Guilford Bobcats baseball team fell to Delhi in a close 8-5 loss on Monday and went right back to work to face local Greene on Tuesday. B-G, who defeated the Trojans in a tight game to start the season, picked up a big 20-1 victory to settle in at 3-2 in the fifth game played.
B-G scored in every inning with five runs scored in the first, second, and fourth innings. Julian Pruskowski led the Bobcats with five RBIs with three hits on the day as Brayden Swartwout and Gavin Gifford both drove in three runs. Connor Davy, who continues to have a hot bat, had two hits and two RBIs and was walked three times.
Swartwout and Gifford shared time on the mound for the Bobcats with Swartwout going the distance in six innings. Swartwout allowed one run on three hits, walked three batters, and struck out eight. Gifford got the final two outs in the seventh inning and had a strikeout.
Greene’s Jackson Roth, Kenny Baucas, and Lincoln Youngs provided the three hits offensively. Baucas drove in the team’s lone run in the sixth inning as he drove a hard hit ball to left field to drive in Carter Williamson, who drew a walk and was at second base on a passed ball.
Youngs, Roth, Trent Drew, and Aiden Carter split time on the mound for the Trojans, where they combined for seven strikeouts.
B-G (3-2) is right back out on the field against Afton today at 4:30 p.m. while Greene (0-4) is at Sidney on Thursday.
