Track and Field: Oxford/Greene and B-G compete in Delhi meet
DELHI – On Wednesday, the Oxford/Greene and Bainbridge-Guilford track and field teams were the local county schools that competed at the MAC league meet in Delhi. Delhi hosted the two, along with Deposit-Hancock. B-G won the girls’ race while the Oxford/Greene boys came out on top with B-G in third place.
B-G:
Girls:
Coming off a strong performance in the meet at UV, the Bainbridge-Guilford girls’ track team continued to succeed. As a team, the girls won the 4x400, the 4x800, and the 4x100 relays before solid individual efforts.
Olivia Hall kicked off the girls’ 100 meter hurdles with a third place finish with a time of 22.03 seconds. The junior also earned seventh place in the 400 meter dash with a time of 1:19.92 and finished 11th in the 200 meter dash.
Makayla McCloud ran past Oxford/Greene’s Kayla Knapp for the victory in the 100 meter dash with a time of 13.34 seconds. Elanor Sprow came in third place as Emily Sprow took fifth, Keelan Ammon in sixth, and Macaela Burns in seventh place. Elanor Sprow also finished third in the 200 meter dash with a time of 31.86 seconds with teammate Aubrey Schinn in fifth and Burns in sixth place.
Ethne Degan earned another top finish in the 800 meter run while finishing second in the 1500 meter run. Teammate Maddie Ingham followed Degan in the 800 meter run in second place. Degan and Ingham ran the same 5:49.30 to tie for second in the 1500 meter run. Sage Pruskowski took second in the 400 meter dash with a time of 1:12.43 with Laila Williams behind her in third place. Vanessa Brazee finished fifth in the same event.
Lalaenia Baldwin and Vanessa Brazee were the lone runners in the 3000 meter run with Baldwin earning the top finish in a time of 14:08.84 and Brazee in second (14:30.81) to round out the B-G girls’ runners.
For fielding, Aubrey Schinn, Brooklin Hall, and Olivia Nichols all competed in the long jump event. Schinn led the team with a fourth place finish with a jump of 12 feet, nine inches. Hall jumped a new best 12-4.25 for seventh place as Nichols finished 10th (11-1).
In the triple jump, Brooklin Hall and Elanor Sprow took second and third respectively. Hall picked up a new best jump of 28 feet, three inches. Sprow jumped 27-6.25 for third place. Olivia Nichols earned a top finish in the high jump with a jump of 4-6 with Emily Sprow behind her with a 4-4. Laila Williams joined the action and was in a three-way tie for fourth place with a jump of four feet exactly.
In the discus throw, Marissa Mayo finished second with a throw of 69 feet, eight inches, setting a new personal record. Alyssa Finch took fifth with a throw of 62-3 as Olivia Briggs finished 10th (50-9). Mayo earned a fourth place finish in the shot put event with Briggs in eighth and Finch in 11th.
Boys:
Collin Dicks is off to a fantastic start to his senior outdoor season and proved himself again at the Delhi meet. Dicks won both of his events on the day. He ran the 100 meter dash in a top 11.64 seconds, just short of a new best, and jumped a top 39-1.50 in the triple jump.
Kevin Lang finished third to Dicks in the 100 meter dash with a time of 12.17 seconds and won the 200 meter dash with a new best time of 23.93 seconds. Harpo Hardt took fourth in the same 200 event and also ran for a seventh place finish in the 100 meter dash. Hardt finished behind Dicks in the triple jump with a new best 38 feet, four inches.
Anthony Graham finished fifth in the 400 meter dash with a new best time of 1:00.52 with teammate Kyle Patton in seventh. Easton Porter finished second to Oxford/Greene’s Gordon Smith in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:13.35, which is a new personal best.
Matthew Wombacker finished tied for third place in the pole vault event with a vault of seven feet, six inches. Elliott Briggs earned a third place finish in the discus throw with a throw of 102 feet exactly, which is a new personal record. Briggs also achieved second in the shot put event with a new best throw of 38-1.50. Teammate Ryan Larsen took sixth in discus with a throw of 94 feet, 10 inches as Aiden Vermilyea finished 10th (84-0).

Oxford/Greene’s Kayla Knapp led off the girls’ events with three second place finishes in the 100 and 200 meter dashes and in the long jump. Knapp earned a new best time of 14.13 seconds in the 100 meter dash and ran the 200 meters in 30.63 seconds. Her jump of 13 feet, four inches was a new personal best in the long jump event. Teammate Justina Parsons followed in third place with a jump of 12-9.50, which was her new personal best as well. Parsons finished fourth in the 400 meter dash with Liesl Ludolph in ninth place.
Amani Amin and Ellie Beadle both competed in the triple jump event. Amin jumped 20 feet, two inches for fourth place as Beadle followed with a jump of 18-9 in fifth.
In the discus throw, Ludolph, Shanna Krupp, and Abby Straniero followed one another respectively. Ludolph, who came in seventh place, threw for a new best of 57 feet, four inches as Krupp took eighth with a throw of 55-11. Straniero finished in ninth place with a throw of 55-9. Krupp also competed in the discus throw, where she finished sixth with a throw of 22-1, which is a new personal record. Straniero came in 10th place with her new best throw of 19 feet, nine inches.
Boys:
The Oxford/Greene boys’ team racked up 106 points to win the meet with strong performances all around. As a team, the boys won the 4x800 and a team of Braeden Goerlich, Jacob Eroshevich, David Dunckel, and Dominick Batista finished second in the 4x100 behind B-G. Aiden Amin, Keegan Waltz, Jacob Eroshevich, and Lazarus Ludolph won the boys’ 4x400 meter relay.
Goerlich and Eroshevich followed each other in the 100 meter dash as did Nic Richette and Dunckel. Goerlich came in fourth place with a time of 12.28 as Eroshevich followed in fifth with a time of 12.38. Richette and Dunckel actually tied for eighth place with both finishing in a time of 12.64, which is a new best time for both runners. Goerlich also competed in the 200 meter dash, where he finished second with a time of 24.87 seconds.
Gordon Smith won the boys’ 1600 meter run with a time of 4:44.77, a new personal best. Trent Hamilton finished eighth in the same event with a time of 6:03.55. Smith also took the victory in the 800 meter run with a new best time of 2:11.87. Aiden Ives came in third place in the same event with a time of 2:21.96, also a new best.
Keegan Waltz, Lazarus Ludolph, and Aiden Amin took the top three spots in the boys’ 400 meter dash with Eddie Golden in sixth place. Waltz won the event with a speedy time of 56.06 seconds as Ludolph followed behind in 56.85 seconds and Amin in 58.30 seconds. Dylan Bowers, Liam Philippone, and Sherman Ludolph also followed each other with ninth, 10th, and 11th place finishes.
Anthony Bourn was the lone competitor in the boys’ 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1:20.14. He also was one of two runners in the 3200 meter run, where he ran faster than Delhi’s Benjamin Hadley with a time of 11:52.33.
For fielding, Keegan Waltz was on top of the leaderboards once again with a first place finish in the boys’ long jump with a jump of 18 feet, nine inches. Issac Utter, Liam Philippone and Goerlich all tied for sixth place with a jump of 13-11.25 as Kayden Renfrow came in ninth (13-11).
Dylan Bowers took fifth in the triple jump with a new best 31-2.25. Teammate Urijah Dibble finished eighth while Nic Richette came in 11th in the discus throw. Dibble threw for a new personal best 85 feet, 11 inches as Richette had a throw of 83 feet, two inches. Dibble also finished third in the shot put event with Isaac Utter behind him in fourth place. Dibble threw for 36-1.50 as Utter had a throw of 33-9.50, which was a new personal best to close out the meet.
