Softball: Norwich falls to JC in home opener
NORWICH – After many rainouts, the Norwich Purple Tornado softball team finally got to play at home for the first time this season. Norwich hosted Johnson City in a non-league match-up, where they fell 11-0.
Norwich’s Ava-Rose Cirigliano reached base three times on the day with two walks and two stolen bases before hitting the team’s lone hit with an infield single to shortstop in the bottom of the sixth inning. Loralee Brown hit into a fielder’s choice and stole two bases, but failed to score.
Caitlin Wetterhahn pitched the complete game for Norwich, where she struck out six batters in the loss.
Norwich (0-6) faces off against Windsor this afternoon for a 5 p.m. STAC league match-up.
