Baseball: Afton extends win streak with shutout vs Delhi

AFTON – Coming off a combined no-hitter against Charlotte Valley, the Afton Crimson Knights baseball team hosted Delhi for a MAC league match-up. Afton extended their win streak to five with a 11-0 shutout victory. The Crimson Knights are now 6-2 on the season and 3-1 in the MAC, which puts them tied for third place in the league with Delhi.
Afton got things started with three runs in the first, added one run in the third, three in the fourth, and a game-high four-run fifth inning. Four runs in the fifth came off a wild pitch, an error, an RBI single by Carter Burns, and an RBI double by Tim Barnett. Barnett went 2-for-4 at the plate with two RBIs. Justin Reeves, Braydon Baciuska, and Matt Carmen all went 2-for-3. Reeves drove in three runs and stole two bases on the day while Carmen, Ryan Wright, and Braydon Baciuska each stole three bases.
Ryan Wright pitched the complete game, allowing just four base runners on two hits, a catcher’s interference, and a walk. He also struck out 17 batters in the win.
Afton (6-2) heads to Oxford on Thursday at 4:30 p.m.
