NORWICH — The Chenango Arts Council, located at 27 West Main Street in Norwich, will be hosting an opening reception for "Split Personalities: Urban and Rural Landscapes," a collection of scenic oil paintings by Jeffrey Glave at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, August 2 in the Mariea Brown and Raymond Loft Galleries.

"This show has a lot of landscapes and scenery, and it’s both rural landscapes: farms, wilderness, that kind of thing; and also cityscapes: scenes of storefronts and workers working and things," said Chenango Arts Council Administrative Assistant Mary Beth Miller. "It’s all really beautiful work."

Glave has worked as a scenic artist in the film, television, and theater industry for 40 years. His work has been featured in movies such as “Do The Right Thing,” “A Beautiful Mind,” “John Wick,” and “The Inside Man;" television shows such as “Mr. Robot" and “God Friended Me;" as well as several theater productions, including some years at the Metropolitan Opera.

The opening reception is free and open to the public, and will include live music by Rick Zimmerman, as well as wine and refreshments provided by the Cottage Bakery. Glave will also be in attendance to meet visitors and discuss his artwork.

After the opening reception on August 2, the gallery will remain on display at the Chenango Arts Council until August 23. Miller said individuals are welcome to view the gallery during the Arts Council's normal business hours of 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, or call 607-336-2787 to schedule an appointment to view the gallery.

"It is beautiful oil paintings and he’s got a lot of city street scenes and a bunch of really pretty landscapes with farmhouses and things," said Miller. "He’s very, very talented. They’re very beautiful paintings. We’re really excited to have them."

Coming up at the Chenango Arts Council is the Norwich Theater Company's production of "9 to 5" at 7 p.m. on Friday, July 26 and Saturday, July 27, as well as a matinee at 2 p.m. on Sunday, July 28.

Additionally, there are still spaces available in the Arts Council's Kids Summer Art Camp. The camp is open to children aged 10 to 14 years old, and will include instruction by Leah Dobbin on mediums such as drawing, painting, ceramics, and more.
