NORWICH – The City of Norwich Police Department welcomed two new recruits, Torin Lawrence and John Vinal III, at swearing-in ceremony Tuesday night during the common council meeting.

“I commend these young gentlemen for taking on the challenge of the police academy and their desire to serve our community,” Police Chief Reuben J. Roach told the council.

Lawrence and Vinal are currently enrolled in the Broome County Law Enforcement Academy and began their training in March of this year. Both Lawrence and Vinal will graduate from the academy in September and then commence their field training at the police department.
