Football: B-G holds on vs Oneida to win season opener

ONEIDA – The Bainbridge - Guilford Bobcats football team had been putting in the work in the offseason to prepare for Friday’s season opener against Oneida. B-G held on to earn the 28-20 victory.

After a shaky first quarter for both teams, B-G went on the board 6-0 off a fumble recovery by the defense. The defense recovered three fumbles in the game.

Quarterback Connor Davy rushed for 74 yards for the team’s first touchdown of the season. The point after was blocked by the Express. The Bobcats took the 6-0 lead into halftime.

Oneida answered back in the third quarter, which gave them momentum to score on three consecutive drives. However, B-G came up big with three touchdowns of their own and from the score in the first half, secured the victory.
