Afton/Harpursville field hockey shuts out Tioga in season opener

AFTON – The Afton/Harpursville field hockey team, who comes off finishing runner-up in Section IV, Class B last year, started the 2024 season with a big shutout victory over Tioga. Monday’s 9-0 win was also the Crimson Knights’ home opener.

The win was a team effort, where multiple players contributed with at least one goal and an assist. Lilly Bagg led the Crimson Knights with a hat trick as Miranda Schultz scored two goals. Makenna Schultz, Adrianna Hartman, Vanessa Card, and Alaysia Thomas all added a goal. Hartman led the team with two assists as Makenna, Gracie Bagg, Abbey Paoletti, and Abby Hoyt each contributed with one assist in the win.
