NORWICH – The Norwich Purple Tornado girls’ swim team welcomed Owego to the high school pool on Tuesday evening. Coach Gantt was proud of her young swimmers who combined for a dropped time of 58 seconds and swam personal bests.

As a team, Norwich picked up victories in both the 200 freestyle and the 400 freestyle relays with Mikayla Sastri, Nina Kman, Meghan Funk, and Alexandra Shtrauch. Sastri also won both of her individual events with victories in the 200 yard freestyle and 500 yard freestyle.

Kaelyn Conant took fifth in the 200 yard freestyle as Shtrauch finished third in the 500 yard event. Conant also won the 100 yard backstroke event with a top time of 1:20.89.

Shtrauch also competed in the 200 yard individual medley event, where she came in second place with a time of 2:47.38, behind Owego’s 2:40.44.
