Join One Community, One Book event in West Park, Oct. 5
In 2023, the One Community, One Book event took place in West Park with Suzanne Bloom reading and signing her book “Oh! What a Surprise,’ while the fox greeted participants and visitors. This year, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., October 5, during the Saturdays in the Park with Chobani in West Park, Improve Norwich Now Co-founder Jen Westervelt offers their ninth book event and the fox will once again invite visitors to join the fun of games, crafts and a scavenger hunt while Suzanne Bloom periodically reads aloud from her book ‘What About Bear’. NORWICH — All are invited to the One Community, One Book event kick off from 10 a.m to 12 p.m., October 5, in West Park during the Saturdays in the Park with Chobani.
“One Community, One Book event is our ninth offering,” said Improve Norwich Now (INN) Co-founder Jen Westervelt. “We offer this two times a year, and this fall we’re hosting and kicking it off at Saturdays in the Park with Chobani.
“We’ll be there with Chenango County author, Suzanne Bloom and she’ll periodically read aloud from her book ‘What About Bear’,” said Westervelt. “She’s written many books and this is our third time we’ve partnered with her for One Community, One Book. She is our most popular local author connection.”
She said the book is about playing games so there will be some games like checkers and dominoes and different games that children can play while they’re listening or just in general, while they’re at the event.
Westervelt said they will also have a craft station where participants will be able to craft a puppet animal that goes along with the book or they can make up their own character. A ‘make your own game’ kit will also be given out for participants to make at home.
