Chenango County's 'Celebrate America Rally' draws crowds in support of Republican candidates

NORWICH — On a brisk, autumn Saturday, the Chenango County Republican Committee hosted a "Celebrate America Rally" at the Chenango County Fairgrounds on October 19.
The event brought together local leaders, political figures, and community members. Held from noon to 4 p.m. in the fairgrounds' Exhibition Hall, the event included live music by the Rylee Lum Band, comments from officials, and a call to action for attendees to support Republican candidates in the upcoming elections.
Kicking off the rally, State Senator Joe Griffo, representing New York’s 53rd District and Assistant Minority Leader in the State Senate, delivered opening remarks after being introduced by Chenango Republican Chairman Bill Acee. Griffo spoke about the importance of strong representation for the northern areas of Chenango County, urging voters to remain engaged and active in the political process.

Assemblyman Angelino took a strong stance against Proposition One, labeling it a “Trojan Horse” and urging attendees to vote "No" on the ballot.
He warned the proposition may look harmless, but it’s hiding serious implications for the community. Angelino also highlighted Sapraicone’s dedication to the region, reminding the audience that, unlike Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, Sapraicone has visited Chenango County multiple times this year.
Sapraicone, who has received an endorsement from former President Donald Trump, underscored his commitment to revitalizing New York's economy, advocating for policies that he believes will bring jobs and business back to the state.
He noted that both he and President Trump come from Queens, and both share a deep love for New York State. He remarked on wanting to bring back jobs, strengthen businesses, and create opportunities in the local area. His speech was the final one given and it resonated with the audience, many of whom offered thumb-ups in support.
Broome County Republican Chairman Benjamin Federman also took the stage, applauding the work of Congressman Marc Molinaro and emphasizing the importance of his re-election.
Federman was followed by Republican candidate for Family Court Judge Diane DiStefano, who shared her extensive experience in family law, reinforcing her qualifications for the role.
The exhibition hall buzzed with activity. Committee Secretary Gilda Ward organized the event.
“This election is crucial for the future of our nation. We must support all of our great Republican candidates to protect our country and secure a strong future for America,” she said.
