Moravia rolls past Greene in Trojans’ season finale
MORAVIA – Moravia, the presumptive favorite in the upcoming Section IV eight-man football playoffs, completed a perfect run through division play topping Greene at home, 53-12, on Saturday afternoon.
The Blue Devils (6-1) have won six straight since an opening-game loss to Pembroke.
They scored all of their points over the first three quarters and were not seriously threatened after the first quarter.
“They are very good and have a strong offensive line,” said Greene coach Dave Gorton. “I would say they outweighed us by 70 pounds a man (on the line). I was really proud of our effort. We played well but were just overpowered at times.”
The Trojans (2-6) had a good opportunity to cut into Moravia’s 10-0 first-quarter lead. Micheal Slater connected with Laz Ludolph on a 45-yard pass play to the Moravia 20. After another first down, the Trojans’ drive stalled on downs at the Moravia six.
