Norwich modified football celebrates an undefeated season with shutout vs M-E

NORWICH – It was a battle of unbeaten teams at Norwich’s Ulrich field on Monday evening. The Norwich Purple Tornado modified football team took on the Maine-Endwell Spartans. Norwich shutout M-E 28-0 to wrap up the program’s second straight undefeated season.

Norwich started with the ball first but with a few incompletions, they turned the ball over on downs. However, they got the ball back as the defense forced a fumble. From there, it didn’t take long for Cooper Chrystie to take the ball to the end zone with a 77 yard touchdown run on a quarterback keeper. Bray Lawrence kicked the two-point conversion.

The Purple Tornado defense forces a punt and Carter Chrystie took a handoff from Cooper and scored a 72 yard rushing touchdown. Lawrence’s kick was good and Norwich had a 16-0 lead early in the first quarter. The defense picked up another fumble as Luke Waters stripped the ball and the offense started at the M-E 44, but was forced to punt the ball. Norwich took their 16-0 lead at halftime.
