OV boys fall to DeRuyter in season opener

SOUTH OTSELIC –  The Otselic Valley Vikings boys basketball team is back for the 2024 season. They hosted DeRuyter on Monday evening, where the Vikings fell 62-37.

Both teams played an even first half with the Rockets taking a one-point lead at the break. DeRuyter only intensified on both ends of the court in the second half and held OV to just 13 points in the final 16 minutes.

Owen Davis led the Vikings with 17 points, where he hit three three-pointers, had three rebounds, and two steals. Lukas Schieferstein followed with 11 points as Payne Wood added five points off the free-throw line and led the team with 12 rebounds.
