B-G boys fall to Walton/Downsville in OT

BAINBRIDGE – The Bainbridge-Guilford Bobcats boys’ basketball team hosted Walton/Downsville in a down-to-the wire matchup for their 2024 home opener. With both teams tied at 44 at the end of regulation, Walton/Downsville came away with a 55-53 win in overtime, handing B-G their first loss of the season in MAC league play.
Walton/Downsville led 26-17 at the half with both teams fired up to have an intense second half. However, B-G could not stop Walton/Downsville’s top leading scorers; Tyler Reed and London Gardner, who secured the team’s victory in overtime.
B-G battled all the way through and knocked in a total of nine three’s in the contest. Cyrus Megale led the team with 12 points, all four three-pointers. Declyn Marshfield went 6-for-8 at the free-throw line and finished with 10 points, along with Michael Lipani, who knocked in two three’s.
Aidan Haynes had three three’s for nine points as Isaiah Hampton chipped in four points. Tim Kinter also finished with four points, all from the line. Jaedan Walling contributed with two points.
B-G (2-1) heads to Afton on Friday at 5:30 p.m.
