Oxford boys drop hard-fought game vs Deposit-Hancock
OXFORD – It was an intense game between the Oxford Blackhawks and the Deposit-Hancock Eagles boys basketball teams on Wednesday night at Oxford High School. Both teams battled in the MAC league match-up with the Eagles coming away with a 73-64 win, limited Oxford in the final eight minutes.
Oxford led 38-28 at halftime and kept up with the Eagles, but the biggest factor in this game was being outscored 18-6 in the fourth quarter. The Eagles had four scorers with 11 points or better, including leading scorer Micah Simmons with 20 points, and were strong on rebounds.
Gordon Smith led Oxford with 14 points and had a big third quarter with nine points. Donovan Rickard and Jared Sheridan both finished with 12 points as Sam Hendricks had 11 points. Richard Hunter chipped in five points as Nic Dodzweit and Kyle Benjamin each had four points and Ben Sheridan was held to just two points.
