Norwich Wrestlers fall to Oneonta in home opener

NORWICH – After hosting the Coach K Duals last weekend, the Norwich Purple Tornado wrestling team officially held their 2024 home opener in a dual meet against Oneonta on Thursday night. Norwich fell 50-21.

Oneonta picked up three forfeits, four pins, a decision, and a technical fall.

Norwich’s Jadyn Carpenter earned his fourth win of the season by a 5:22 pin against Oneonta’s Henry Mahar in the 124 weight class. Maverick Beckwith remains unbeaten as he pinned Oneonta’s Evan Waltz in 1:33. Jack Barnes came away with a 7-5 decision as Ryan Evans pinned Oneonta’s Damien Savella in :23.

Norwich competes in Cobleskill-Richmondville’s Battle in the Valley tomorrow, December 21, starting at 9 a.m.
